Strelitzia Nicolai

Strelitzia Nicolai or commonly known as the Giant White Bird of Paradise originates from South Africa predominately growing along coastline and inland fertile forests.

The Bird of Paradise is an eye catching evergreen with beautiful broad leaves which are brilliant for softening landscapes whilst instantly creating a tranquil tropical environment.

The giant white Bird of Paradise can be spectacularly displayed in modern landscapes due to beautiful large green leaves which can grow up to 1.8 metres long.

The Strelitzia Nicolai is great for screening with its ability to grow up to 10 metres in height and 5 metres in width.

The magnificent white and blue flowers are dramatic and eye catching within the foliage and look exotic during the day and especially at night when highlighted by garden lighting.

The giant white Bird of Paradise is an undervalued plant which tolerates frost and is quite drought tolerant yet has the ability to look spectacular when set near pools or used to soften hard structures such as walls.

The large broad leaves can become torn or shredded in high wind exposure areas and as such courtyards or more sheltered positions in a landscape project allow this truly exotic plant the opportunity to demonstrate all its majestic beauty.
